Manor Farm Community Hub CIC is a formally and legally constituted local residents’ group working in Manor Farm with Bristol City Council (BCC) to gain some greatly needed community space on the estate. The story of our group began in 2014.
The first action of our group was to send the Mayor a Wish List, detailing all the activities and functions we would wish the community centre to be able to offer and host. That was the green light to organise and so the MFCH Core Committee was formed from residents who were passionate about making the community hub a reality, however long it may take. With the support of our BCC community development worker, we progressed through the stages of initial meetings, becoming an officially constituted group with trustee members, acquiring public liability insurance, opening a bank account, starting to liaise, via our councillors, with the various BCC departments about which options could be viable and having regular meetings.
Our current Secretary, Anna George, attended and spoke at a Full Council Meeting to state our case. We do not have, nor will we have, any regular guaranteed source of funding but have to apply for grant funding such as the NP Wellbeing Fund in order to meet running costs such as insurance and the costs of putting on public events and Fun Days to raise awareness over the whole estate.
Things have moved on finally quite significantly over the last 4 years and plans are now in place for the building and these are currently subject to consultation. You can see the plans on the Facility Development on the 'News page' page.
